An adventure through the Viking lands of Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland, from August to November 2019
Having inhaled complete series of books and Netflix episodes under the Nordic Noir/Euro political genres, been a long-time lover of Nordic and Scandi design (and part-time collector of Scandi-inspired mid-century furniture), a Viking-inspired popular culture enthusiast (I never miss an episode of Vikings), art and ancient history reader of several decades, and a lover of fresh seafood, great pastry, and awe-inspiring landscapes, you can see what themes may emerge from this travelogue.
“If you stand still, the landscape doesn’t necessarily tell you how big it is. It doesn’t really tell you what you’re looking at. The moment you start to move the mountain starts to move.” – Olafur Eliasson on walking mountains in Iceland
